Chelsea are eyeing significant improvements to their ranks this summer and, despite their managerial situation yet to be resolved, are pushing ahead with activity in the transfer market.
The Blues are reported to be looking to bolster their defensive ranks ahead of the new Premier League season and have been attributed with an interest in Newcastle United skipper Jamaal Lascelles.
However, Chelsea will face competition in the market for the 24-year-old as The Evening Standard states Tottenham have also joined the hunt, as they seek to land the ideal replacement for Belgium international Toby Alderweireld.
Everton are also keen on the former Nottingham Forest man and it’s stated that Newcastle are prepared to accept a sale if their valuation of £45m is met – significantly higher than the £30m the Toffees are said to have put on the table.
With Spurs being able to offer Champions League football, their emergence in the market is a major concern to Chelsea.
