Chelsea are facing a major fight on their hands to build a side capable of returning to the Premier League’s top-four and the club have been rocked by suggestions key players could be on their way out.
Amongst those linked with an exit is Belgium international goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who is heavily linked with a move to Champions League winners Real Madrid, but the stopper is set to hand the Blues a huge boost.
According to The Evening Standard, Courtois is mystified by the club’s proposed hunt for a new goalkeeper as he intends to extend his deal at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have been linked with the services of Roma’s Alisson and Stoke’s Jack Butland as replacements for Courtois, who has entered the final 12 months of his deal in west London.
However, Courtois has merely delayed discussions on a new deal due to Belgium’s World Cup campaign and is planning to hold further talks after the tournament in Russia – and he intends to remain with the Premier League side.
