Chelsea are set to oversee a number of significant changes to their side in the summer transfer window after failing to qualify for the Champions League, although one reported deal may have hit a major snag.
Serie A runners-up Napoli have widely been attributed with an interest in the services of Chelsea outcast David Luiz, who looks likely to be surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge this summer, though they are not willing to match the defender’s valuation.
Italian outlet Il Mattino, cited by Sport Witness, claim Napoli are only prepared to pay €15m for the services of the Brazil international – half of the €30m fee that was previously reported for the 31-year-old.
Luiz missed large chunks of the 2017-18 season through injury and was reported to have fallen out with Antonio Conte, with incoming boss Maurizio Sarri likely to move the veteran on.
Chelsea are widely linked with the services of Juventus ace Daniele Rugani and a sale of Luiz would help raise funds for that deal.
