Chelsea face a stern fight this summer to keep their key players at Stamford Bridge ahead of the new Premier League season following the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League.

The FA Cup champions have seen plenty of speculation orientate around the future’s of Belgium duo Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard, both reported targets for Real Madrid, but the Blues have been handed a boost in their quest to retain the services of the latter.

The Evening Standard states Chelsea’s ambition to retain the services of Hazard has been boosted by Zinedine Zidane’s decision to step down with the serial Champions League winners, as he was the driving force behind Los Blancos’ interest in the Premier League star.

Zidane left Real Madrid just days after leading the Spanish giants to their third Champions League crown in succession and it’s now stated the club have decided not to make a pursuit for 27-year-old Hazard their priority.
