Chelsea have found themselves in a difficult situation at the start of the summer, as their managerial position is still yet to be resolved and owner Roman Abramovich is facing a tussle with officials to earn a new visa.

The Russian billionaire has pulled the plug on a planned redevelopment of Stamford Bridge, throwing further issues into Chelsea’s mix, and speculation has suggested that he could sell after over a decade at the helm.

However, The Daily Mail report Abramovich swiftly rebuffed an advance from Britain’s richest man Jim Ratcliffe, said to be a Manchester United fan, as he’s keen to remain in charge of the west London giants.

Chelsea have refused to comment on the reports but it’s suggested a number of approaches, including some from China, have been knocked back by Abramovich.

Ratcliffe lives close to Stamford Bridge and regularly attends games, while he’s said to be worth more than double Abramovich’s reported fortune of £9billion.
