Chelsea have a lot of work to do this summer but, amidst a number of issues, they may have just been handed a significant boost in the transfer market.
The Evening Standard states that serial Serie A champions Juventus have offered Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain to the Blues, as they seek a deal to bring Alvaro Morata back to Turin.
Morata only signed from Real Madrid last summer, on a club-record deal, but has struggled for consistency in his debut season in the Premier League and Chelsea are ready to accept a departure, though they want a world-class replacement.
Higuain would certainly fit the bill for the Blues and Juventus may have to offload the 30-year-old to finance a deal for Morata, after Chelsea made it clear they wouldn’t accept a two-year loan offer from the Italian champions.
25-year-old Morata, who missed out on a spot in Spain’s World Cup, has already been pictured speaking with agents about his future and it’s suggested he wants to leave Stamford Bridge.
