Chelsea are eyeing significant improvements to their ranks after failing to qualify for the Champions League and are specifically targeting midfield additions.
Despite the Blues’ managerial situation still not being sorted, with no successor to Antonio Conte yet to be appointed, the west London side are pushing ahead with activity in the transfer market – and Roman Abramovich is leading the drive for one midfielder.
French outletĀ RTL FranceĀ states Chelsea are in advanced talks with OGC Nice’s 26-year-old ace Jean-Michel Seri, although no fee with the Ligue 1 side is yet to be agreed.
A major exodus is expected to take place at the French Rivieira this summer and Ivory Coast international Seri looks set to follow striker Mario Balotelli and former manager Lucian Favre out of the door, with the latter appointed as boss at Borussia Dortmund.
Seri is also a prime target for Chelsea’s London rivals Arsenal this summer but the Blues seem to hold the advantage in the pursuit of the combative midfielder, who scored seven goals and contributed nine assists in the league last term.
