Chelsea are eyeing considerable improvements to their defensive line after a frustrating season saw them fail to secure Champions League football for next term.

There’s still uncertainty around the Blues ahead of the new campaign, with Antonio Conte’s future still subject to intense speculation, but that hasn’t stopped Chelsea from eyeing new recruits in the market.

French outlet Le Parisian, via TEAMTalk, name Chelsea as one of three sides interested in the services of Porto full-back Alex Telles, alongside Champions League runners-up Liverpool and Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The 25-year-old reportedly has a £35m release clause in his contract with Porto, who have a reputation for always selling players for the right price, but luring the uncapped Brazil-born defender to Stamford Bridge without Champions League football may be difficult.

Also eligible to represent Italy, Telles is keen on forcing his way into international reckoning in the coming years and a move to one of the three mentioned sides would certainly help his chances.
