Chelsea could be set to lose one of their prized defensive assets to a European side after an approach in the transfer market.

French outlet RMC Sport state that negotiations between Chelsea and Monaco for the services of Jonathan Panzo are at an advanced stage following an approach from the Ligue 1 side’s technical director Michael Emenalo.

Former Chelsea man Emenalo is ready to raid is former club for the talents of the 17-year-old defender, who he became aware of during his time at Stamford Bridge, and is looking to negotiate a deal worth around £2.5m for the England U17 World Cup winner.

Panzo has attracted widespread interest on the continent from the likes of Valencia, Borussia Monchengladbach, Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig but Emenalo is using his links with Chelsea to complete a deal.

Monaco will have to pay around £2.5m in compensation for the teenager, who becomes the latest English talent to leave their homeland in order to complete a move to Europe.
