Chelsea are eyeing wholesale changes to their squad this summer following their failure to qualify for the Champions League next season and a focus has been placed on their defensive ranks.
The Blues are widely attributed with an interest in Juventus ace Daniele Rugani, who is linked with a £35m move to Stamford Bridge as the Italy international seeks more regular first-team opportunities than he has been handed in Turin.
Chelsea’s managerial situation is still not resolved though, although the Blues are widely reported to be set to appoint former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri as Antonio Conte’s replacement, and a move for Rugani could go ahead once that switch is confirmed.
Rugani’s agent, Davide Torchia, has suggested that is the case by telling Sportitalia:
“It’s obvious to say that the Sarri issue must be resolved first. After that, we can proceed with the negotiations and make them more or less concrete.”
