Chelsea face a fierce fight to keep their key-players at Stamford Bridge this summer after missing out on Champions League football for next season and one European giant is already eyeing a raid.

The Daily MirrorĀ states no progress has been made on contract negotiations between Chelsea and Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, which has alerted back-to-back Champions League winners Real Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane is eyeing a new first-choice stopper to bring to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer and Courtois may find it difficult to reject the advances of Los Blancos, who could seal a third Champions League crown in a row by defeating Liverpool in Kiev later this month.

Manchester United’s David De Gea has long been stated as the prime target for Real Madrid, after a proposed transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu remarkably fell apart a few seasons ago, but Zidane’s side are now chasing other candidates.

Courtois is seen as an achievable target to secure as he’s due to enter the final 12 months of his contract in west London this summer.
