Chelsea have a busy transfer window ahead of them and the first point of business is bringing in a replacement for Antonio Conte, who is widely expected to leave Stamford Bridge despite guiding the Blues to FA Cup glory.

The club’s prime managerial target is said to be Maurizio Sarri, who was replaced at Napoli by Carlo Ancelotti recently, and it’s reported that the highly-rated boss has already identified the top-class striker he wants the club to sign.

Metro, citing Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport, state Sarri wants to sign Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi for the Blues, amidst rising speculation that Alvaro Morata will be offloaded after a disappointing debut season at the club.

Inter captain Icardi scored 29 Serie A goals last season but endures a love-hate relationship with the Inter fans and could be sold this summer, with it suggested that Chelsea are ready to activate his mammoth £96m release-clause.

Icardi’s clause at the San Siro is only active for a few weeks this summer and is only available to foreign clubs, handing Chelsea a route to a potential top-class addition.
