Chelsea could suffer further from their failure to secure Champions League football next season, as it seems rival clubs are readying to swoop.

The Manchester Evening News reports that representatives from Manchester United have held preliminary talks with the representatives of Chelsea ace Willian, who has emerged as a prime target for Jose Mourinho.

Former Blues boss Mourinho is keen to reunite with Brazil ace Willian at Old Trafford and is looking to raid his old club once again, having captured midfielder Nemanja Matic from the west London outfit last summer.

Although the talks that have taken place so far have been informal, it’s likely to be just the start of a transfer saga that could ultimately see Chelsea lose another fan favourite to their Premier League rivals.

Mourinho initially tried to sign Willian last summer, when he captured Matic, but Chelsea were not willing to agree a deal. However, that situation may have changed this summer.

Willian is tied down to the Blues until 2020 but, turning 30 in August, could be seen as expendable – especially if a significant sum is offered.
