Chelsea’s plans for the summer have already been affected by the club’s failure to secure Champions League football next season and the Blues have been handed another significant blow.

Italian outlet Calcio News 24, cited by FootballItalia, state Napoli have placed a whopping €120m price-tag upon the head of highly-coveted defensive ace Kalidou Koulibaly.

The 26-year-old Senegal international, poised to star for his nation at this summer’s World Cup, has attracted plenty of interest in the market with his performances for the Serie A runners-up this season, with the Blues, Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid linked with a move.

However, Napoli are desperate to retain the services of their starring centre-half and the monumental price they’re demanding for the experienced defender commands a world-record fee for a defender, surpassing the £75m Liverpool paid Southampton for Virgil Van Dijk in January.

Due to Chelsea’s finances without Champions League football and the FFP restrictions UEFA have in place, it’s highly unlikely that the Blues will approve a deal.
