Chelsea are widely expected to relieve Antonio Conte of his duties imminently, despite the Italian boss guiding the Blues to FA Cup glory.
Speculation on Conte’s future has been around for a while and the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League next season could be the factor that pushes him closer to an exit from Stamford Bridge – and a significant push has been provided in Europe.
The Daily MailĀ state Maurizio Sarri is on the brink of replacing Conte in west London following his departure from Serie A runners-up Napoli, who named former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti as his replacement in Naples yesterday.
Sarri has emerged as a prime managerial target for Chelsea in their quest to replace Conte and he’s already said to have turned down Russian giants Zenit St. Petersburg, who lost Roberto Mancini to Italy’s national side, as he’s keen to be appointed at Stamford Bridge.
