Chelsea are seeking significant improvements to their ranks this summer after a disappointing campaign has left the Blues without Champions League football next season.

A host of names are likely to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge and reports have already started to suggest potential targets, with it appearing that the west London side are leading the chase for a highly-rated midfielder.

The Daily Mirror suggests Arsenal are pushing ahead with a move to land OGC Nice midfielder Jean-Michel Seri this summer but it’s added that Chelsea are currently ahead of their rivals in the chase for the Ivory Coast international.

While the Gunners are said to have held talks with the 26-year-old’s entourage, Chelsea have an advantage in the quest to land the £40m-rated midfielder and their financial status is superior to their London rivals.

Seri has caught the eye with his performances for the Ligue 1 side during the past two seasons and attracted a wealth of interest last summer, where Barcelona were reported to be close to a move but have seemingly now ended their interest.
