Chelsea are seeking significant improvements to their side after failing to qualify for the Champions League next season and it’s led the Blues eyeing a monumental addition to bolster their attack.
The Telegraph states Chelsea have identified Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski as their prime target for the transfer window, as they seek to improve their attacking ranks after struggling for consistency in front of goal this season.
While January recruit Olivier Giroud has proven to be a hit at Stamford Bridge, club-record signing Alvaro Morata has struggled during the second-half of the season and it’s speculated the Spain striker, who missed out on his nation’s World Cup squad, could be sold in the close season.
That would issue Chelsea with funds to pursue Lewandowski, also a reported target for Real Madrid, but the 29-year-old is likely to cost an astronomical price in the market – potentially as much as €100m, shattering the figure paid for Morata last summer.
