Chelsea are looking to significantly bolster their side after failing to qualify for the Champions League next season but they’re having to put the breaks on any business while they seek to secure their managerial situation.

This could come back to haunt the Blues as The Sun names Napoli and Borussia Dortmund as the latest side to express an interest in OGC Nice’s highly-rated midfielder Jean-Michel Seri, who’s available this summer if his £35m release-clause is matched.

Chelsea, along with London rivals Arsenal, are keen to bring the Ivory Coast international to the Premier League but the emergence of Napoli and Dortmund in the market, both of whom can offer Champions League football, may throw a spanner in the works.

Seri’s preferred destination is said to be England, handing the Blues and Arsenal encouragement, but he may be tempted by Champions League offerings – especially if Chelsea delay an approach while they land a replacement for Antonio Conte.
