Chelsea are looking to significantly bolster their ranks this summer after failing to qualify for the Champions League but find London rivals Arsenal in a similar boat.
Both sides from the capital are looking to improve their options in midfield and have been widely attributed with an interest in OGC Nice ace Jean-Michel Seri, who’s available for £35m due to a release-clause in his contract.
While a stern fight could be around the corner, French outlet Le 10 Sport state Chelsea lead Arsenal in the hunt for the services of the Ivory Coast international and discussions with the Ligue 1 side regarding a deal are imminent.
Chelsea won’t have to wait until after the World Cup to complete a deal as Seri’s African nation are not involved and Nice would prefer to do business early, as it would give them time to find the ideal replacement in the market.
However, Arsenal could easily match the approach from the Blues and Chelsea will need to be wary of what the Gunners will offer.
