Borussia Dortmund do not have a purchase option on Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, according to Bild.
The Belgian international scored twice on his debut in a 3-2 win over Cologne at the weekend, but the the 24 year old will return to the Blues at the end of the season.
The signing of Olivier Giroud from Arsenal allowed Batshuayi’s move to Dortmund to go through, with game time likely to have been restricted by the Frenchman’s arrival.
Chelsea signed the Belgian forward for £35million in 2016, and if he does do well on loan in the Bundesliga, the club could demand a fee above what they originally paid for the player.
Much could depend on Blues boss Antonio Conte’s own future at the club. It’s no secret that the Italian is not Batshuayi’s biggest fan, but if there is a change of management, the Belgian may yet stay at Stamford Bridge.
Conte has called on the club to back him, but speculation has increased since Chelsea’s 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth last week.
