Liverpool have joined Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United in pursuing Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey, according to the Mirror journalist Steve Bates.
The Reds have cooled their interest in Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, and it looks as though they have now turned their attention to the Jamaican starlet.
Chelsea reportedly tried to sign Bailey in the January transfer window, but the Daily Mail reported that a £22m offer was rejected by Leverkusen.
Since then, the midfielder’s stock has risen further still, with Sport Bild reporting that he may only be sold for £100m in the summer.
The 20 year old has certainly been in good form this season with ten goals and five assists in 22 appearances, but he’s still only in his first full season in the Bundesliga.
Although Bailey’s form has been good in recent weeks, he was only a substitute for Leverkusen in their 2-0 defeat to Hertha Berlin at the weekend. He is certainly a player in high demand, but whether he merits the hype, it remains to be seen.
