Chelsea have sent right back Todd Kane on loan to Oxford United for the rest of the campaign, according to the club’s official website.
The former England Under 19 international had been playing in the Netherlands for the first half of the season, but his loan spell was cut short after struggling for first team opportunities.
Kane had joined Eredivisie side FC Groningen on a season long loan in the summer. He linked up with manager Ernest Faber who he had previously worked with at another Dutch club, NEC Nijmegen.
Despite a promising start to his time at Groningen with three starts in the first five league games, playing time began to dry up, and he had not started an Eredivisie match since November.
The full back returned to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, before making the move to Oxford a day later; his seventh loan spell of his career. United currently sit 12th in League One, and are currently without a manager after sacking Pep Clotet last week.
