Chelsea are one of three teams that have made an approach to Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti, according to Don Balon.
The Spanish publication report that the Blues, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid have all tried to get in contact with the Frenchman’s representatives about making the switch from the Camp Nou.
Umtiti has a release clause of just €60million (£53m) making him a prime target for some of Europe’s top clubs. Barca are looking to increase the buyout fee, but a new deal has yet to be agreed.
The 24 year old moved to the La Liga club from Lyon in 2016 for £22.5m, and his current contract runs until 2021.
Umtiti has been in excellent form this campaign, and it remains to be seen whether the France international will entertain offers about leaving Barcelona.
Considering the sales of Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool for £75m and Aymeric Laporte’s £57.6m move to Manchester City, £53m looks like a decent deal for a centre back in the current climate, but all will hinge on the progress of talks over a contract renewal.
