Juventus are stepping up their pursuit of Genoa striker Pietro Pellegri, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Chelsea have been tracking the 16 year old since the summer, but it seems the Serie A champions are currently in pole position to sign the forward.

Pellegri’s club Genoa are said to be holding out for €30m, a €10m reduction on their demands just a few months ago, and they are seeking to keep the player on loan, at least for the rest of the season if a deal is done this month.

Juve meanwhile, are reportedly going to test the waters with a €25m (£22m) bid. The Bianconeri do not see the Italian Under 19 international as ready for their first team, and are considering Genoa’s request to keep the player.

La Gazzetta report that an alternative loan destination could be Sassuolo, who have taken a number of Juventus youngsters on loan over the past few years.
