A representative of Sampdoria midfielder Dennis Praet has revealed the player will only leave Italy if a club like Chelsea, Manchester City or Real Madrid make an offer for him.

The 23 year old is currently performing well in Serie A, and has a €26million (£23m) release clause according to Calciomercato.com. Speaking to the Italian website, Ivan Reggiani said:

“Dennis wants to stay in Italy, absolutely yes. He has settled in Serie A, he knows the championship and I think he could only change country in favour of a team like Chelsea, Manchester City or Real Madrid. But this is not the case.”

Reggiani went on to reveal in the interview that Newcastle went all in to sign the Belgian international in the summer but the playmaker is keen to only leave Sampdoria for what he considers a bigger club.

In Italy, that would mean Juventus, and abroad the Blues and others would be his first choice. Whether he currently merits such a move to an elite European club, it is questionable.

The midfielder has not pulled up any trees since his £9m move from Anderlecht in 2016. He has just one goal and provided four assists in 55 appearances for the Serie A side since his arrival.
