Barcelona are keeping tabs on Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen, according to the Mirror.

The Catalan club are looking to sign a new centre back in the January transfer window, with Javier Mascherano likely to make the move to China this month.

Barca are trying to sign Colombian international Yerry Mina from Palmeiras but they are also want another player in the same position to compliment the likes of Gerard Pique, Samuel Umtiti and Thomas Vermaelen.

Christensen has been performing well since replacing David Luiz in the first team for the 1-0 win against Manchester United back in November. He had started Premier League games against Stoke and Tottenham prior to that match, but his solid display in the victory over United established himself as a regular starter.

The Danish international had spent the last two seasons on loan in Germany playing for Borussia Monchengladbach, but Antonio Conte was sufficiently impressed with the 21 year old in pre-season to keep him around the first team squad.

The centre half has two and half years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge, and the Blues are said to be keen to tie him up to a longer term deal. With Barcelona reportedly tracking him, they will want him to sign on the dotted line sooner rather than later.
