Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel says he has yet to negotiate the length of Baba Rahman’s loan spell with Chelsea.

Reports in the Sun and the Daily Mail have said that the Bundesliga club had agreed an 18 month deal for the 23 year old but speaking to Kicker yesterday afternoon, Heidel said that talks had not advanced that far:

“That’s what I want to talk about first when the contracts are negotiated and signed.”

Rahman has returned to full fitness after a year out with a knee injury, and the Ghanaian international has completed a medical with Schalke, in preparation for a move to go ahead.

It seems nothing else has been finalised at this point though. Chelsea have already loaned out one left back in Kenedy to Newcastle, and it is likely that they will want to sign a back up for first choice Marcos Alonso before allowing Rahman to leave as well.

The full back has not played for the Blues since May 2016, playing the full 90 minutes against Leicester City on the final day of the 15/16 season.
