Chelsea retain an interest in Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The newspaper’s football news correspondent Matt Law suggests that both the Belgian international and West Ham’s Andy Carroll are being considered by the Blues as potential targets during the January transfer window.

Manager Antonio Conte is reportedly keen to find a short term replacement for second choice striker Michy Batshuayi, who they want to loan out this month.

The Chelsea striker has struggled to win over Conte since he arrived from Marseille for £35m in July 2016. The 24 year old did start the 0-0 draw against Norwich City on Saturday, but his performance wouldn’t have changed anyone’s mind about his future at the club.

After the game, Conte did defend Batshuayi’s performance by stating the Belgian is still young and learning the game. However, it wasn’t the words of a man who seemed convinced about his striker’s abilities.
