Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey has revealed he will remain with the Bundesliga club until the end of the season.

German tabloid Bild report that Chelsea were prepared to pay €40m (£35.2m) for the Jamaican this month, but speaking to the newspaper, the 22 year old confirmed he will not be leaving in January:

“I’m only focused on Leverkusen. I am happy here and just concentrate on developing well. Who knows what the future holds. I promise to stay in Leverkusen this season.”

The Blues, along with Arsenal and Manchester United have been monitoring Bailey’s situation at Leverkusen. However, while sporting director Rudi Voller has been more open to a move happening, the club’s general manager Jonas Boldt has been adamant that no deal will be done this month.

The midfielder has been in excellent goalscoring form in recent weeks. He scored in the 2-0 win against Mainz on Sunday taking his total to four goals in his last four league games.

In total this season, Bailey has scored ten goals in all competitions, as well as contributing five assists in 18 matches. He can play on either flank, although he is predominantly left footed.
