Real Madrid are interested in signing Chelsea left back Marcos Alonso, according to Don Balon.

The La Liga champions are seeking a replacement for Marcelo, whose form has dipped markedly this season. Both Real’s president Florentino Perez, and the club’s supporters are reportedly questioning the player’s attitude and ambition, following a series of below par performances.

The Brazilian international has been with the Spanish side for eleven years, and has won three Champions League medals, four La Liga titles and two Spanish Cups, among other trophies, since his arrival from Fluminense in 2007.

Don Balon report that Marcelo seems to lack the motivation needed after winning everything he can in the game, and Real are now considering replacements.

The club’s top target looks to be Alonso. At 27, he is only two years younger than the Brazilian, but the defender is capable of playing as an attacking full back, in a similar vein to the Madrid star. Playing as a wing back under manager Antonio Conte, he has already scored six goals for the Blues this season.
