Chelsea will have to fight off competition from Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid if they try to reignite their bid to sign Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan, according to Calciomercato.com.

Blues boss Antonio Conte revealed back in October that the club were interested in signing the 29 year old but the Belgian international decided to sign a new contract with the Giallorossi instead.

Recent events have however changed the likelihood of Nainggolan leaving the Stadio Olimpico. A post on Instagram showing the midfielder drinking and smoking on New Year’s Eve led to the player being left out of Roma’s 2-1 home defeat to Atalanta at the weekend.

The indiscipline could lead to the Serie A club making the midfield enforcer available for transfer, with Calciomercato suggesting that they would only consider offers upwards of €40m (£35.6m).

Chelsea are said to be monitoring Nainggolan’s situation, but there will be no shortage of competition for the Belgian star.
