Chelsea will look to make a bid for AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma if the Blues’ current number one Thibaut Courtois departs for Real Madrid in the summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Italian international only signed a new four year contact back in July but he has been on the receiving end of abuse from his own fans this season, and it has reopened speculation that he could soon leave the San Siro.

Donnarumma would be a likely target for Chelsea if Courtois does opt against signing a new deal to stay at the London club. The Belgian stopper’s current contract expires in 2019, but has spoken publicly in recent days about signing an extension.

However, it hasn’t stopped rumours circulating about his future, with Sky Sports pundit Guillem Balague even saying that the 25 year old’s statement was designed to encourage Real Madrid into making a bid.

Mundo Deportivo report that even though the La Liga champions are poised to sign another goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao, it will not prevent them returning in the summer for Courtois as well.
