Chelsea have had an enquiry for West Ham winger Marko Arnautovic knocked back, according to the Times.

The Austrian international joined the Hammers from Stoke City for a club record £25m fee in the summer, but initially struggled for form at his new club.

Arnautovic failed to score a single Premier League goal until December, but his performances improved markedly after David Moyes replaced Slaven Bilic as manager of the London club.

The 28 year old has scored six goals and provided three assists in his last eight Premier League games, likely leading to the Blues’ interest in the player.

West Ham are however struggling with an injury crisis, and were said to be only willing to let one striker leave this January, with Javier Hernandez, Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll all having been linked with departures from the London stadium.

The imminent arrival of Edin Dzeko from Roma will hopefully put an end to the rumours that have seen Chelsea linked with almost every forward in the Premier League.
