Chelsea are prepared to pay Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi’s €110m (£97.6m) buyout clause, according to TyC Sports.
The Argentinian TV station reports the Blues will rival Real Madrid for the 24 year old’s signature, with both teams holding talks with the forward’s wife & agent Wanda Nara.
Nara will reportedly travel to both London and Madrid to discuss terms with officials from the two sides, although it is not guaranteed that the Icardi will leave Inter.
The Nerazzurri are hopeful that the Argentine international will sign a new contract at the Giuseppe Meazza, and increase his clause to €200million.
Icardi’s only signed a new five year deal in October 2016, but with prices in the transfer market rising so steeply since Paris Saint-Germain signed Neymar for €220m in the summer, the striker’s release fee now doesn’t look so unreasonable.
With Alvaro Morata struggling to find the back of the net recently, Chelsea may see Icardi as an ideal player to strengthen their attacking options, after scoring 18 goals this season already.
