Chelsea may re-enter the race to sign Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan, reports Calciomercato.com.

The Roma star was forced to apologise after filming himself drinking and smoking on New Year’s Eve, and there has been no word from his club so far about whether he will be punished for his poor discipline.

Reports in the Gazzetta Dello Sport suggest that Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande may look to offer €40m for the 29 year old, but the Italian side would hold out for €50m (£44m).

However, Calciomercato believe the Blues may also consider an approach for a player who has been a long term target. Chelsea boss Antonio Conte confirmed back in October that the club tried to sign Nainggolan, but the midfielder signed a new four year contract to remain in Rome back in July, ending speculation about his future.

The Belgian international has been a regular starter under manager Eusebio Di Francesco this season. having played 21 times in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing four assists.
