Sevilla are actively pursuing Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, according to Estadio Deportivo.

The Seville based newspaper report that the La Liga club’s sporting director Oscar Arias has been tasked with signing a “top level” forward in the January transfer window; one that is available and has not played many minutes for their club this season.

Estadio Deportivo report that Sevilla see Batshuayi as the perfect fit. The Belgian international has made only eight starts  in all competitions this campaign, and is concerned about his place in the final 23 man squad for the 2018 World Cup.

The forward started Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Norwich City in the FA Cup,  but the player remains on the periphery of the first team for higher profile games, despite Alvaro Morata’s dip in form in recent weeks.

Batshuayi has still scored nine times this season despite his lack of game time, but speculation is rife that manager Antonio Conte wants to recruit another striker this month. The Evening Standard report that Red Star Belgrade’s Richmond Boakye remains top of the club’s targets for the position.
