Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio made a visit to Stamford Bridge to watch Chelsea against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night, and Calciomercato.com believes that the Italian club were keeping an eye on Andreas Christensen.
The Serie A side are pretty light for cover at centre back, and have had to rely heavily on Joao Miranda and Martin Skriniar this season. To strengthen their defence, Ausilio has been tasked with signing a new centre half.
Inter attempted to sign Shkodran Mustafi in the summer on a season long loan from Arsenal, but their offer was turned down by the Gunners. They are also interested in Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez, who started against the Blues in the 1-1 draw, but Ausilio is believed to be a keen admirer of Christensen as well.
The Danish international impressed on a two year loan spell at Borussia Monchengladbach, and Inter reportedly offered to loan the player, with a purchase obligation, at the start of the season.
The bid was rejected by Chelsea with Blues boss Antonio Conte a big fan of the 21 year old. The defender has subsequently established himself in the first team, and despite Inter’s apparent interest, it is highly unlikely now that Chelsea will allow the player to leave.
