Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard has spoken to Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane in the past week over a potential switch to the Bernabeu, according to Diario Gol.

The Spanish website believe that Real’s president Florentino Perez has given Zidane permission to pursue the Belgian international after the club’s disappointing start to the league season.

The emergence of Marco Asensio and Isco as first team regulars had delayed Real’s attempts to sign Hazard, but the poor form of both Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema has prompted Perez into seeking out new recruits.

Zidane is believed to have been after Hazard ever since he took up the head coach role at the Spanish giants two years ago. The Times have added to the speculation by reporting that the player has delayed contract talks until the end of the season.

Journalist Matt Hughes says that Chelsea have offered £300,000 a week to the 26 year old, but Hazard is waiting to see if Real make an offer for him in the summer. The Belgian midfielder does not want to be tied down to a deal that would rule him out of ever moving to the La Liga side.
