Inter Milan winger Antonio Candreva has denied there was any serious interest from Chelsea in the summer.

Speaking to Premium Sport (quotes via the Gazzetta Dello Sport), the 30 year old confirmed that he does stay in contact with his former Italy coach, and now Blues manager, Antonio Conte but he is adamant he is happy staying at the Nerazzurri:

“Every now and then we talk, but there was nothing [in it]. I’ve started a very important project here at Inter. A point of reference to take away some satisfaction, I hope to win [the title] this year.”

Candreva was heavily linked with Chelsea in the summer as the club looked for options to strengthen the right wing back position. The Blues eventually settled on signing the winger’s Italy team mate, Davide Zappacosta from Torino for £23m.

The Italian international meanwhile has played every single Serie A match this season, playing all his matches on the right side of a front three. Despite not scoring in his 15 appearances for Inter this campaign, he has managed an impressive seven assists. Inter currently sit top of Serie A following an unbeaten start to the season.
