Barcelona and Liverpool may challenge Chelsea for Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey, according to Daily Mail journalist Simon Jones.

The Blues reportedly held talks with Leverkusen on Friday about signing the Jamaican international, but it seems the Bundesliga club are extremely hesitant about selling the player.

The German side only signed Bailey from Racing Genk for €20m in the summer, and they are not in desperate need to sell. Offloading the 20 year old could also be problematic with it being difficult to find available players to replace him in January.

Reports have however suggested that the Blues are willing to loan the player back to Leverkusen to allow talks to progress further. Chelsea will be reluctant for negotiations to be drawn out for too long, especially if Barca and Liverpool are still looking to sign the Jamaican.

The Blues have been tracking Bailey since he was 15 years of age, after he first arrived in Europe, but it seems the club are now convinced of his ability to make it in the Premier League.
