Chelsea are among the teams who will consider a move for Nice attacking midfielder Jean Michael Seri in January, according to the Guardian‘s deputy news editor Ed Aarons.

The Ivorian international was close to joining Barcelona in the summer but the Catalan club withdrew their offer for the 26 year old. Arsenal were also linked with a bid for the midfielder before the start of the season.

It seems as though neither team are considering an approach for Seri next month, with Aarons suggesting that the Blues will be joined by Manchester City and Everton in their pursuit of the Ivorian.

The midfielder has struggled for form this season with one goal and five assists in 21 games. It’s in stark contract to last season when he helped Nice to a third place finish in Ligue One with seven goals and nine assists. The lack of form is likely the reason that Aarons reports the player will be available for just £25m.

Whether Chelsea will bring in another central midfielder in January, after signing two in the summer, it is debatable. The Evening Standard believes Monaco’s Thomas Lemar and Everton’s Ross Barkley will be the club’s priorities, although there could be more signings than just two next month as manager Antonio Conte looks to strengthen his squad.
