Chelsea may pursue Sevilla goalkeeper Sergio Rico if Thibaut Courtois leaves for Real Madrid, according to AS journalist Guillem Balague.

The Blues’ current number one has been offered a lucrative new deal by the club but the Belgian international’s personal situation means the player is very much open to a switch to Madrid.

Courtois’s children live in the Spanish capital with his former partner, and it seems that the keeper would prefer a return to Spain in order to be closer to them.

The Belgian’s representatives have reportedly told Real that the stopper is “interested” in a move to the Bernabeu, but the La Liga champions are not certain to pursue the 25 year old with the club close to sealing a deal for another goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga of Athletic Bilbao.

Chelsea are believed to be very much aware of Courtois’s situation and AS report that Rico is one of two goalkeepers that manager Antonio Conte has lined up to replace the Belgian international if he leaves Stamford Bridge. The Sevilla stopper was first linked with a move to the Blues in October last year, and it seems the club have continued to track the Spanish international’s progress.
