Arsenal have joined Chelsea in pursuing Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Blues reportedly held talks with the Bundesliga club on Friday, following the team’s 2-0 win over Stuttgart. The Jamaican international provided assists for both goals in the match, continuing his fine start to the season.

Bailey only signed from Racing Genk last January for a fee in the region of €13.5million, but it is believed Chelsea are willing to pay £20m to sign the 20 year old when the transfer window reopens in a couple of weeks time.

The entrance of Arsenal into the race may complicate things though. Leverkusen are reportedly reluctant to sell the winger, and have no pressing financial concerns that would force them into selling.

If the Gunners are serious about their interest, and do follow up by holding talks with the German side, it could lead to a bidding war for Bailey between the two London rivals.
