The father of Chelsea star Eden Hazard has revealed that the player has not been contacted by Real Madrid despite the player being interested in a switch to to the Bernabeu.
Thierry Hazard was speaking to Belgian publication Le Soir when he also confirmed that the 26 year old has turned down an offer from Chelsea to extend his contract in the hope that Real make an offer for him:
“What I can reveal about Eden is that he refused a contract extension. This was so that, if necessary, he could follow the interest of the Real, whom he could see himself playing for. But, as of right now, there is no contact from Real Madrid. Eden is only one of the parties involved in his future.”
The attacking midfielder’s desire to join Madrid is not a surprise considering the player has regularly stated his admiration for both the team’s manager Zinedine Zidane and the club in general.
Still, it is surprising that Real have yet to register their interest in Hazard. The father’s public comments are however likely a “come and get me” plea, which will sting them into action. The club will almost certainly make acquisitions in the January transfer window after a poor start to the league season, but any bid for the Belgian international would likely only come in the summer.
