Chelsea are likely to scrap their plan to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey in the January transfer window, according to Daily Mail journalist Simon Jones.

The same reporter revealed three days ago that the Bundesliga side had rejected a £22m bid from the Blues for the Jamaican, and it seems the club have now delayed their plans to sign the 20 year old until the summer when a deal could be revived.

Bailey would have strengthened manager Antonio Conte’s options in attacking positions, and could have made Willian’s departure possible from Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United reportedly enquired about the availability of the Brazilian but Chelsea have no intention of weakening their squad in January, and are only looking for reinforcements instead.

Juventus’s Alex Sandro, Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, Everton’s Ross Barkley and a backup striker are likely to be the Blues’ four main objectives when the transfer window reopens in a couple of weeks time.
