Chelsea are interested in signing CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin for £15million, according to the Sun.

The new star of Russian football has been linked with London rivals Arsenal over the past year, but it is believed that Blues owner Roman Abramovich’s past links with CSKA will make Chelsea the favourites to land the 21 year old.

Golovin has been in pretty good form in the Russian league this campaign, having scored three times, and contributed three assists in 17 appearances. The midfielder generally plays in the number 10 role, but can also play further back in the middle of the park.

The Sun report that the Russian international would not be considered a first team starter by Antonio Conte if he were to be signed in the January transfer window. With the World Cup in Russia just six months away, the playmaker will need game time in the second half of the season so if the Blues do sign Golovin, the likelihood is he will be loaned out so he can get regular first team football.
