Chelsea are preparing an €80million (£70.8m) offer for Lazio attacking midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to Rai Sport pundit Matteo Materazzi.
Materazzi relayed the news on his Instagram account yesterday, but so far there has been no more information about when the bid will actually be made.
Milnkovic-Savic has been on the radar of Europe’s top clubs for the last year with his agent, and ex Blues striker, Matej Kezman confirming in the summer that the Serbian has been subject to numerous €50m plus offers already.
The 22 year old has been in good form for Lazio this season with five goals and three assists in 20 games. He generally plays as a central midfield player, which would indicate he would provide competition for Cesc Fabregas if he were to make the switch to Stamford Bridge.
So far though this is one unsubstantiated source, but it will be interesting to see whether any Italian newspaper picks this up, and investigates further, or if Milinkovic-Savic’s agent Kezman makes another public statement.
