Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has a long standing interest in Roma winger Alessandro Florenzi, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian international played under Conte when Italy made it to the quarter finals of Euro 2016, and the Blues boss is said to be an admirer of the player’s ability to play in his favoured 3-5-2/3-4-3 system. It has led to to the 26 year old being tracked by the Premier League side.

In addition to Chelsea, Juventus have also kept tabs on Florenzi but Calciomercato report the most likely outcome is that the winger signs a new contract with Roma.

The utility player currently has a deal that expires in 2019, and Roma are said to be keen to retain the services of the Italian, who they consider indispensable.

Florenzi has excelled under Eusebio Di Francesco’s management this season, playing mostly as a right winger or at right back, after having spent most of last campaign on the sidelines with a serious knee injury.
