Chelsea have held “club to club discussions” with Bayer Leverkusen over the possible signing of winger Leon Bailey, according to the Sun.
The Blues, along with a host of other clubs, were tracking the 20 year old before he moved to the Bundesliga from Racing Genk last season, but it seems that a move for the Jamaican international is back on the agenda.
Chelsea’s scouts are said to have watched Bailey on several occasions, and the club are now believed to be holding talks with Leverkusen which would see the Premier League side pay £20m for the winger before immediately loaning him back to the German club.
It is not unknown for the Blues to make such deals. Kevin De Bruyne was signed from Racing Genk in January 2012 before being loaned back to the Belgian side for the rest of the season. He then went on a further loan spell to Werder Bremen before he even made his debut for Chelsea at the beginning of the 2013/14 campaign.
