Chelsea may be tempted to bid for Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco after AS revealed that manager Diego Simeone has given the “go- ahead” to sell the Belgian star.

The Blues, along with Liverpool and Arsenal, were reported to be interested in the 24 year old with Fichajes.net stating earlier this week that the Premier League trio were the likeliest candidates to offer the €50m (£44m) that Atletico will demand for the player.

AS is not so specific about which clubs are involved in pursuing Carrasco, but they believe he has a number of Premier League suitors chasing him, along with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Chelsea may be considering a move for a wide player in the January transfer window but the Evening Standard believes Antonio Conte is keener on Monaco’s Thomas Lemar. Carrasco could well be a backup option, but much may depend on whether Atletico will sell the player for a reasonable amount.

AS believe that the Belgian international could yet stay in Madrid if interested clubs don’t match their demands, and Simeone is prepared to use him as a substitute for the rest of the season if a transfer doesn’t transpire.
